Password Protected Directories
See how to create a safe and user-only area in your website with password-protected directories.
If you want to keep some content hidden from the public eye, you'll be able to enable password protection for a given folder - either the primary Internet site folder or any other one below it. If this feature is enabled, a pop-up shall appear every time somebody attempts to open the folder in question or clicks on a direct link which goes a few levels deeper, so login information will be necessary for www.domain.com/folder/image.jpg if you have protected the domain.com folder. In case the details aren't valid, a “403 Forbidden” message will appear and there's no method of getting around this restriction, so you can be certain that no one will be able to access the protected content. The option may be beneficial in a variety of scenarios - if only certain individuals need to be able to see particular files, if you are developing a site and you do not want people to see it prior to it being completed, and so on.

Password Protected Directories in Shared Website Hosting
Creating a password-protected area will take only a few mouse clicks and a few seconds if you host your sites in a
shared website hosting account with our company. You will not have to do anything complicated - you will need to select a domain/subdomain, to select which folder under it has to be secured, and then to input the login name and password which will be used to access that folder. In case a number of individuals need their own login details, there will not be a problem to set up a variety of different usernames with access to the same exact folder. All secured folders shall appear with a padlock icon inside the File Manager section, so you will always know where this option is enabled. If you would like to turn off the security function for any folder, you can deactivate it from the exact same section of the CP in which you have enabled it.

Password Protected Directories in Semi-dedicated Hosting
You will be able to create password protection for any content which you have within your
semi-dedicated server account. We have added an easy-to-use tool to the Hepsia web hosting Control Panel using which you will be able to activate the feature with several mouse clicks and without any problems, even if you're not quite tech-savvy. You'll simply have to choose the hostname (domain or subdomain), the exact folder that should be secured (the main folder or a subfolder) plus the login name and password. The protection shall take effect instantaneously, so if you make an effort to open the password-protected URL in your web browser, you'll have to enter the newly created login details in order to proceed. You will also be able to give different usernames for the very same folder to a number of individuals, so you'll not need to share the same login credentials with anybody. Each password-protected folder will have a tiny padlock icon inside the File Manager section, so you will be able to recognize such folders with ease.
